A stool examination for intestinal parasites and protozoan infections is recommended yearly for all dogs and cats (indoor or outdoor). Some parasites and protozoans do not respond to general or over-the-counter dewormers and often require specific prescription medications only if detected and identified through a fecal analysis. Although many parasites cause intestinal upset, many go undetected in normally produced stool only to become problems later should your pet become stressed or immune compromised. Some intestinal parasites or protozoans can infect and harm you or your children without causing any symptoms to your dog or cat. Sample collection containers can be provided to you free of charge by our staff. Results are usually provided within 24 to 48 hours.
